USA

Education in USA

In U.S. there is no national school system nor is there any national framework of laws that determines and prescribes the curricula or asserts control on any level of education. The federal government plays an important role in education, but does not take an responsibility to establish or license schools or govern educational institutions.
This decentralized nature of U.S. education had its origins in the early history of the United States, where it was customary on the part of each locality to establish and support its own school, and take the responsibility of educating the children, based on a strong set of priorities, values and needs.
Knowing about this historical fact helps us in understanding why state and local governments even today retain the primary responsibility for administering elementary and secondary education in the U.S.

U.S. education starts with 1 to 2 years of pre-school education, which is followed by 12 years of regular schooling. This is followed by a 4-stage higher education degree system – Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s, & Doctorate.
In addition to this, there are various non-degree certificates and diplomas, and also the special education services, adult basic and continuing education, leisure learning programs, and continuing professional education and training programs.

It is mandatory that the completion of each level or stage is a prerequisite for access to the next level of education. There is also no uniformity in assessment and evaluation tools used to determine learning needs at different levels of education, and in different states across U.S.
What is the U.S. dollar to world’s currency, U.S. education is to world’s education. It is not only because of U.S. education’s ready global acceptance, but also because of its provision for further avenues in terms of research and development.
U.S. education is the foundation on which the mammoth U.S. industry and economy stands. It has made U.S. a global power and a nation of peace and prosperity, and also enabled the true realization of what U.S. Declaration of Independence proclaimed “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” to be inalienable rights of every citizen.

UK

Education In UK

The British educational system has a good reputation. Accredited qualifications obtained from British schools and universities are recognized in most parts of the world. There are courses in a wide variety of subjects, including many of which are open to international students. Language teaching methods in the UK are well developed.

Language

The UK is the place where the English language developed. There are more people using English as their first language in the UK.

Work

If you are given a student visa when you enter the UK, you are allowed to work part-time. The cost of living in the UK (for example, accommodation and food) is quite high, so many students want to find part-time or holiday jobs so that they can afford to stay longer. Employment opportunities exist: unemployment is quite low in many parts of the UK, and there are shortages in certain professions such as nurses and teachers. Voluntary work has a long history in the UK and is usually well-organised.

International Exposure

Universities and colleges in the UK are truly global. To study in the UK is to find oneself in the company of students from all over the globe. It is no exaggeration, if we say that students from almost every nation of the world study in UK universities. This cross-cultural setting at UK universities provides Indian students a wider understanding of academics and its applications.

Travel

It is easy to travel to the UK. There are flights to London from most parts of the world. You can travel around the UK by trains and bus, although the services are not very efficient. It is usually not necessary for a student to have a car. The country is quite small, so it is easy to make day-trips or to go on holiday to other parts of Britain. The UK is close to the many different countries of continental Europe.

Food

There is, in fact, a very wide variety of food available (both traditional British food and international cuisine), especially in the bigger cities. There are many fresh ingredients which are delicious when cooked well.

Safety

The UK is a relatively safe country. There are pickpockets in busy areas, so hold on to your belongings carefully. There are not many insects, snakes or dangerous animals in the UK. There is very little risk of earthquakes, hurricanes or other natural disasters, although flooding sometimes occurs in low areas.

Environment

There are many green areas, including beautiful parks, gardens and public footpaths. There are many coastal areas, but only a few of these have sandy beaches.

Weather

The British weather is quite moderate. In general the summers are not too hot, and the winters are not too cold. Days are short in the middle of winter (it gets dark before 4pm in December), and long in the middle of summer (it remains light until after 10pm in June). There is usually more rain in the west of the country, and more sunshine in the south. The weather is pleasant enough for studying or working, especially between the spring and autumn.
